No. 3 | Experiencing the Periphery
Installed strategically outside of the Founders Gallery, my physical positioning turns the audience into collaborators as they encounter the Founders Gallery through active forms of witnessing. I fluctuate between engaging an action that can be seen at a distance (shining light into the Founders with a mirror), and one that requires an intimate proximity (sinking small sailboats in my mouth). The audience is invited to get close to the windows to see my body on the outside periphery of the museum. The audience is also invited to come outside to join me. I invite witnesses who are outside with me to walk over to a pair of tourist binoculars near the parking lot next to the ICA. I invite them to look through after focusing the binoculars on the pier where the fourth part of Wandering With The Horizon is sited to occur one month later.
