With Pulses and Appetites (Swamp No. 1)
2026

In Swamp No. 1 sounds from a swamp collected with a hydrophone are embedded inside a wax sculpture. The wax is cast from a mold of a decoy used to manage wildlife. Wax, like the decoy, is a material of imitation. Yet unlike the rigidity of the plastic decoy, wax remains vulnerable to its surroundings. It softens with heat, accumulates marks, and changes through touch. By translating decoys into wax, objects designed to manipulate other animals are transformed into objects altered through encounter, foregrounding vulnerability rather than control.
